2008 Recap – SuperWomen & Friends Red Carpet Gala
Our first ever SuperWomen & Friends Red Carpet Gala in Vancouver on November 21, 2008 was a magical evening that was a rousing success! Three hundred women & men joined us with community businesses and corporate support to raise $62,800 for WIL’s programming. We all had so much fun – it was a fabulous opportunity to celebrate the superwomen in our midst and in each of us.
Some highlights from 2008 Gala:
- Emcee was Rena Heer from CTV.
- Keynote presentation by Melanie Berry, the President of Juno Awards
- Live Auction by auctioneers Lori Richardson and April Brown;
- A beautiful fashion show and Dream Makeover by JC Studio
- Awesome performances by Alexz Johnson and Stephen Spender
Our super team had a very short timeline to put the gala together. We had some 18 hour days, worked really hard and pulled it all off. Thanks in large part to the fantastic group of people who came together – our 45 volunteers contributed 1500 hours. Now that is superpower!
