This year WIL will host the Ontario Aboriginal Women in Leadership Forum in October. Sharing the Inspiration annual forums recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of Aboriginal women and youth in the private and public sector.
For this event we are recruiting people for the following positions:
- Event Committee Chair
- Communications Specialist
- Event Planner & Organizer (Logistics Coordinator)
- Strategic Partnership
Position: Event Committee Chair
Location: Ottawa
Your responsibilities…
- Oversees a team of volunteers to develop a plan of action to ensure event goals and objectives are met
- Supervises all levels of the volunteer structure as they recruit teams, obtain sponsors and provide logistical support for the event
- Chairs all event committee meetings
- Liaises with the WIL HR Committee on Event Committee updates and progress
- Serves as a mentor and coach to the event committee
- Leads the post-event evaluation meeting and presents the post-mortem report to WIL HR Committee
Your skills and experience…
- Energetic and exceptional communicator (verbal and written)
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lead and motivate people
- Experienced in coordinating and managing large groups of volunteers (at least 20 volunteers)
- Experienced in planning, executing, and managing large scale and high profile events (at least 2 or 3 events)
Position: Communications Specialist
Location: Ottawa
Your responsibilities…
- Responsible for proactive public relations and marketing efforts to increase awareness and brand identity of the event
- Develop, write and edit a variety of traditional and online marketing messages
- Draft key messages for event emcees and speakers with assistance from staff
- Develop and manage media relations including pre and post event
- Work with Logistics Coordinator to ensure that event day brand components are in place
- Attend committee meetings and participate in a post-event evaluation meeting
Your skills and experience…
- Superior writing/proofreading and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
- Knowledge of traditional and social media methods of promotion
- Experience with writing marketing or promotional materials
- 2-3 writing samples will be required
Position: Logistics Coordinator
Location: Ottawa
Your responsibilities…
- Responsible for ensuring all aspects of event day are planned, coordinated, and efficiently run
- Coordinate venue (rental, room setup, catering, audio/visual, etc.)
- Coordinate speakers and organize thank you gifts and cards
- Manage event reception setup (i.e. name tags and other materials needed)
- Print and pick up event signage
- Attend committee meetings and participate in a post-event evaluation meeting
Your skills and experience…
- Highly organized and comfortable with conflict resolution and creative problem solving
- Energetic and exceptional communicator (verbal and written)
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Dynamic and responsible team player and ability to build effective working relationships
- Experienced in planning, executing, and managing mid to large scale events
Position: Strategic Partnership Coordinator
Location: Ottawa
Your responsibilities…
- Recruit, establish, and maintain partnerships with other companies
- Ensure that sponsorship agreements are upheld
- Work with Communication Specialist to secure media sponsors
- Create and maintain tracking database to maintain communication between committee members
- Promote ticket sales to sponsor’s company or organization
- Ensure all sponsors are recognized properly before and during the event
- Attend committee meetings and participate in a post-event evaluation meeting
Your skills and experience…
- Ability to build and maintain long-lasting relationships
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Outgoing and comfortable with approaching and making presentations to the sponsors
- Ability to create and lead creative sales/marketing pitches and campaigns
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
