WIL Goes Green – Ontario Green Works Project
By David Mossman
Canada is facing a severe shortage of workers in the environmental sector. There are over 500,000 environmental workers employed in Canada and the sector is projecting strong demand for highly skilled occupations. The supply for these workers will have to come from immigration, women (which lag behind national averages) and more training of young people.
WIL in partnership with the Province of Ontario is running a 1 year GREEN WORKS project. This project shall help industry attract skilled female workers and bring together key stakeholders for collaborative approach and strategy building.
The centerpiece for the project is to establish an annual Woman in Environmental Occupations Forum. The forum shall bring together women from across the province to share knowledge, best practices and establish networks that will foster their development.
The Ontario Women’s Environmental Occupations Forum is scheduled to take place in Ottawa in October 2009. For more info email us at: info@womeninleadership.ca
