Angelina Dubrule, Emerging Leaders Placement Program

What motivated you to become a volunteer in the Emerging Leaders Placement Project?

I was motivated to volunteer with the Emerging Leaders Placement Project because I care deeply about access to opportunity and meaningful mentorship. I’ve seen how difficult it can be to navigate professional systems without guidance, and ELPP stood out as a way to turn leadership and technical skills into real support for people at pivotal stages in their growth.

What do you consider to be the most rewarding aspect of being a volunteer?

The most rewarding part has been seeing volunteers gain confidence and clarity once they’re placed in environments that recognize their strengths. Helping create those connections and watching people step into their potential has been both grounding and motivating for me.

Have there been any valuable lessons or insights you've gained through your volunteer journey? If so, could you share one or two that have had a significant impact on you?

I’ve learned how important thoughtful structure and listening are to effective leadership. When systems are clear and flexible, people thrive. I’ve also learned that leadership often means adapting and supporting others rather than directing them.

How do you take care of your well-being while pursuing your goals or leadership roles?

I focus on balance and sustainability. I prioritize routines that keep me grounded, including movement, creative outlets, and reflection. Maintaining boundaries around rest and energy has helped me show up more effectively in leadership roles.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering becoming a volunteer?

I’d encourage them to approach it with curiosity and openness. Volunteering offers valuable perspective and personal growth, and when you engage thoughtfully, the impact extends far beyond the role itself.

Thank you so much for volunteering and making a positive difference, we greatly appreciate your dedication and valuable contributions.
